About the Initiative

About the Juravinski Integrated Residential Care Initiative

The Juravinski Integrated Residential Care Initiative is a three-year collaborative research project in Hamilton, Ontario, funded by the Juravinski Research Institute.

The initiative aims to improve equitable access to coordinated health and social care for residents of subsidized residential care facilities (RCFs) through the production of new knowledge generated through extensive research, and the design and implementation of impact activities that aim to influence change at the frontline, legislative, and policy level.

Our Goal

Residential care facilities (RCFs) are a vital yet poorly understood part of Hamilton’s housing continuum. The Juravinski Integrated Residential Care Initiative seeks to understand the gaps, goals, and opportunities for improving resident and staff well-being in Hamilton’s RCFs.

This initiative will generate evidence of effective residential care delivery modes, build community capacity and drive impact by addressing the health equity gap, and demonstrate the collective strength of Hamilton’s diverse community leadership and research capacity.

Funding Acknowledgement

This initiative was made possible because of the generous donation by the late Margaret and Charles Juravinski through the Juravinski Research Institute (https://juravinskiresearchinstitute.ca/), whose legacy continues to inspire and support our efforts. This funding will create evidence and awareness to help combat health inequities and enact sustainable change for vulnerable and underserved residents in Hamilton.
