Our Work
Overview
This initiative brings together the expertise, lived experience, and passion of researchers, health and social care providers, policy-makers, and RCF operators, staff, and residents. This work includes two phases: Phase 1, which focuses on gathering perspectives through formalized research processes to generate new evidence that can inform future research; and Phase 2, which focuses on driving actionable change to improve life for those who live and work in RCFs.
Phase 1: Gathering Perspectives
The first phase of this initiative focused on generating new research on RCFs to understand the needs, strengths, challenges, and opportunities of those supporting, living, and working in RCFs.
In this phase, our team focused extensively on gathering diverse perspectives, generating evidence, and engaging key stakeholders to inform practical change initiatives for the second "action" phase.
This work would not have been possible without the generosity of knowledge and time from our research partners.
Thank you to our research project partners, including:

Phase 2: Creating Impactful Change
The second phase of our work translates Phase 1 insights into impactful change initiatives. In this phase, we are working alongside the Greater Hamilton Health Network (GHHN) to drive impactful change in four key areas:
Community Building
Awareness Campaign
Quality Improvement
Legislative Review
These pillars were developed from Phase 1 research findings and input from key stakeholders, including RCF operators, staff and residents, health and social care agencies providers, City of Hamilton Housing Services, and Hamilton Public Health.
